PCBA Protection Assembly Process

After placement and soldering — conformal coating, enclosure installation, or combined dual protection
I. Two Protection Paths
Path 1: Conformal Coating
PCBA → Cleaning → Masking → Coating → Curing → Inspection
Bare board use, or inner protection before enclosure
Path 2: Enclosure Installation
PCBA → Insert into enclosure → Secure → Close cover → Screw/snap
Finished products, physical protection
Path 3: Combined Protection
PCBA → Conformal coating → Install into enclosure → Seal
Outdoor, humid, high-reliability applications
II Path 1: Conformal Coating
Step Process Description
1 Cleaning Clean the PCBA to remove flux residue, oil, and dust
2 Masking Apply masking tape to connectors, switches, battery contacts, test points
3 Coating Spray entire board or selective areas — uniform thickness
4 Curing Room temperature / thermal / UV curing 𝄞
5 Inspection Thickness check + visual inspection (no bubbles, no runs, no missed spots)
6 Demasking Remove masking tape to expose areas that should not be coated
Result:

PCBA surface is covered with a protective film — ready for use or enclosure installation.

III Path 2: Enclosure Installation
Step Process Description
1 Enclosure Preparation Check for burrs or deformation, clean interior
2 Positioning Place PCBA into enclosure, align with positioning posts or slots
3 Securing Screw down / snap closed / rail mount
4 Connector Alignment Ensure PCB connectors align with enclosure openings 𝄞
5 Closing Close the cover, check for gaps
6 Sealing (optional) Install gasket / apply glue / tighten screws to achieve IP rating
Result:

PCBA is secured inside the enclosure — final assembly complete.

IV Path 3: Combined Protection (Conformal Coating + Enclosure)
Step Process Description
1 Conformal Coating Complete conformal coating per Path 1
2 Enclosure Installation Install PCBA into enclosure per Path 2
3 Sealing Add gasket or apply glue at enclosure seams to improve IP protection
Result:

Conformal coating protects against moisture and corrosion inside, enclosure provides impact and dust/water protection outside — dual protection.
